UTC Outdoors activities.

January 18 Backpacking clinic 
Location: Campus Recreation Office 8:00pm, Maclellan Gym 
Cost: Free

January 20 – 22 Backpacking 
Location:  Mount Rogers, VA (the highest mountain in Virginia, 5,729 feet)
Meeting time: 2:00pm at campus recreation office, Maclellan Gym 
Cost: Free 
Equipment:  Equipment can be rented from the campus recreation Office with 
a $25 deposit. 
Itinerary: Friday drive, Friday night car camp, Saturday hike, Saturday 
night camp Thomas knob shelter, Sunday hike, Sunday afternoon home.  500 
foot ascent in 5 miles. 13 miles round trip.   

January 25 Snow ski meeting 
Location: Campus recreation office 8:00pm, Maclellan Gym

January 28 – 29 
Location:  Cataloochee ski area, Maggie Valley, NC
Deadline: January 18 
Meeting time: Campus Recreation Office 9:00am, Maclellan Gym 
Cost:  $195 to ski, $205 to snow broad. Price includes lift tickets, 
rentals, and lodging.
($100 Deposits due 1/18, Balance due 1/25)
Itinerary: Saturday morning drive, Saturday afternoon ski twilight, Sunday 
morning ski, Sunday night home.
