I would like to understand why with all the technology we have today that
there isn't some type of device/phone/laptop or whatever available for
miners to communicate that they are alive should there be a cave in?

I understand that cell phones would not work underground but I would think
with all the technology we have to day that there should be some type of
device available for miners to let rescuers know they are alive.

If people can communicate underwater in submarines why can't some type
technology be employed for under the ground?

Does anyone have any thoughts if this would be possible?

Thank you.

Mary
