Elizabeth Bentzen, an UTC Chemistry student, has been invited to present her
research project, Spectroscopic Analyses of Speleothem Chemistry:
Implications
for Paleoclimate Reconstruction, at the Southwest Regional American Chemical
Society Meeting. This meeting was held in San Antonio, Texas from October 17
through October 20, 2001.

This presentation describes results from a joint faculty-student research
project. Dr. Steve Symes of the Department of Chemistry collaborated with
Ms.
Bentzen to complete this project. The Provost Student Research Award and the
Grote Fund funded this research project.

Congratulations to Dr. Symes and Ms. Bentzen for this honor.
