A couple of weeks ago Prof. Rice commended an article by Bernard Lewis
appearing in the September issue of _Atlantic_ magazine.  Readers of that
piece might also be interested in an article by the
Christian-Palestinian-American writer Edward Said in the October 22 issue
of _The Nation_, which presents an alternative and more nuanced view that
stands in contrast to that of more right-wing thnkers such as Lewis and
Samuel Huntington.
