Dr. Richard Jackson of the English Department was awarded $2,000 from
Allied Arts in support of the Meacham Writers' Workshops. Started in 1982,
the Meacham Writers' Workshops provide an opportunity for visiting
professional writers and local aspiring writers to interact and take part
in a creative exchange of ideas.

The program includes workshops, individual conferences, readings, informal
discussions, and panels -- all of which are free and open to the public.
This
program has grown considerably over the past twenty years and has become a
major outreach program at UTC.

Congratulations to Dr. Jackson for his work to continue this important
forum for professional and amateur writers.
