Dr. Lucien Ellington, Co-director of the Asia Project and professor in the
Teacher Preperation Academy, was recently awarded $247,845 by the US-Japan
Foundation to fund year two of the four year project entitled Mid-South
Japan in the Schools (MSJSP).  This program helps to incorporate education
about Japan into middle and secondary school curriculums in Arkansas,
Missouri, and Tennessee.  Selected teachers from these states will
participate in classroom work in Japanese studies and also take study-tours
of Japan.  As a result, these selected teachers will be able to integrate
what they have learned into the classroom as well as share knowledge with
their colleagues.

Congratulations to Dr. Ellington for his work to raise cultural awareness
in the classroom.
