Colleagues,

I regret to inform the university community that our friend and
colleague Jack Freeman passed away this morning.  Deeply devoted to
the university, Jack served in many roles - teacher, committee
person, department head, and long-time Faculty Marshall.  We will
remember him for his wit, wisdom, humor and the gentlemanly manner
with which he treated everyone.  He will be sorely missed by his
family and those of us who were blessed with the good fortune to know
him.  As yet final arrangements have not been formalized but will be
made known when that information is available.
