I do not know enough about our suggested new peers to determine
whether they have been appropriately chosen. For example, have any of
them initiated three doctoral programs in the last two years
including one that is expected to be a world class PhD in an emerging
field?

However, I don't believe that it would be too cynical to see this as
THEC policy to race to the bottom of state funding of higher
education.  What happens when we begin to lag behind this the funding
of this cohort as we have with our current peers?
