Last year I heard about a Chocolate Mimosa Tree. Recently I have seen
several at Home Depot in Hixson. This tree was developed in Japan and
recently introduced to the US. Many people do not like the Mimosa because
it does spread and some consider it a nuisance, but this beauty is one of
the most exciting new trees and has no problems surviving in hot conditions.
It also has candy-pink flowers as the Green Mimosa Tree and smells
wonderful. You may want to see this tree or even plant it. The color is
beautiful.

Your plants that were hit by the freeze should be watered if you want them
to survive and not suffer even more. Maybe soon we will have some good
planting weather for the fall. I don't believe I would plant those blooming
fall flowers just yet unless you want to water, water, water. By the time
fall is here those blooms will have disappeared. When you buy blooming
plants, buy those that either does not have the blooms on them as yet or
those with blooms not opened.

I noticed last week-end that Lowes was selling perennials for 10 and 50
cents (at Hixson). Keep your eyes opened for these good bargains at the end
of summer. Keep the pots in a cool place and give them a drink or two and
you will have some nice plants to plant this fall.
