Robin,

I too think this is a great holiday to commemorate and to celebrate the
sacrifices made in behalf of our country.

I would note that among those responsible for this enhancement to our
employee benefits, we should recognize not only the administrators from all
levels of the University that supported this action, but also the Employee
Relations Committee.

Representatives from the Employee Relations Committees of the various UT
campuses promoted the addition of this Holiday strongly and effectively.
Julia Cronin, Chair of our own campus' ERC, was the individual who submitted
this proposal to the ERC Board for consideration by Dr. Gilley. All of us
owe our ERC a debt of gratitude for Monday's holiday.

Thanks, Julia, and thanks ERC.

Subject: Re: [UTCSTAFF] Memorial Day Holiday

I've been one of the loudest complainers about working on Memorial Day for
the last two years. I've whined about working it and thrown the family
military history in to help make my case.

I would like to take just a moment now to thank the powers-that-be for
hearing all of us and making Memorial Day an official holiday. It is very
special for me this year, we are having a "Boot Camp Barbecue" as my son
leaves for boot camp next Wednesday.

Thanks for the holiday, I appreciate it.
