Please don't forget to register for the 2002 Instructional Excellence
Retreat, May 16 - 18, 2002 at Watts Bar Resort.  The topic this year is
information literacy.

Information literacy is defined as the "ability to find, analyze, and use
information effectively" (American Library Association, 1989).   These
skills are vital to our students as they prepare for lifelong learning in
an ever-changing world.  Join us as we welcome Alexius Macklin & Joe LaLopa
from Purdue University to lead us in sessions designed to help faculty
explore information literacy and its application in the classroom.

The retreat begins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, May 16, 2002 and
concludes at noon on May 18, 2002.  There is no charge for registration,
lodging or meals, but you must provide your own transportation to and from
Watts Bar (about an hour from the UTC campus).  While there are no fees to
pay, we need to number of people attending by May 8.  To register, complete
