On January 13, Roland Carter participated in a symposium as part of the
annual Atlanta/NPR Martin Luther King celebration. The panel of which
Roland was a member consisted of a number of distinguished African American
composers including Hale Smith, Dwight Andrews, Uzee Brown, William
Banfield and Roger Dickerson. The symposiuim was recorded for broadcast on
Natonal Public Radio's Performance Today. The composers also visited
classes at Spelman and Morehouse Colleges. Congratulations to Roland on
this recognition of his professional distinction and our appreciation for
his sharing that distinction with his colleagues and our students here on
campus.
