                    DUI, PAYING THE PRICE

According to a research done last year at Vanderbilt University, the cost of
a single DUI
Conviction in Tennessee could easily total $ 15,000.00 or more in fines,
fees, attorney costs and higher insurance premiums.

The presumptive level of intoxication in Tennessee was a blood-alcohol level
of .10 until last year.  The lawmakers dropped it to .08.

Towing fee and car storage			$  85.00
Bail						$  287.00 
Defense Attorney (average  cost)		$  3,000.00 
Court Cost range from 400.00 to 500.00
And could run up to 1200.00			$  450.00
Reinstatement fee				$  153.00
If no proof of insurance, fine			$  75.00
If fail to surrender drivers license, fine	$  75.00
SR-22 form					$  2000.00
Restricted license fee				$  67.00
Driver license examination and fee
For re-issue of regular drivers license		$  20.00
Alcohol education program			$  295.00
Increase in car insurance over 3 years	$  9,474.00*

convictions.
