Subject: Departmental advisors for today's transfer orientation: mathematics
placement information

EFFECTIVE FALL 2006

MATHEMATICS PLACEMENT INFORMATION

The math placement test is given at 8 a.m. (Eastern Time) each morning of
Orientation. Below is a chart UTC uses to help determine math placement
levels. Please note that all students with a math subscore less than 24 are
required to take the exam. Students who are not required to take the exam
may do so in order to place into a higher level of math.

Students with prior college credit in math that transfers in as one of UTC's
mathematics courses with a grade of C or better are not required to take the
placement test.

Our Math Department faculty have prepared online practice problems, and we
encourage all students-especially if it's been a while since your last math
class- to visit the website before talking the test. To access the practice
problems, visit http://tangent.utc/math-help.
