The UTC symphonic band will present a concert based on American Impressions of Japan and Japanese Composers writing Folk SOngs. The concert is this friday night at 8:00 PM in the Roland Hayes auditorium and will feature guest conductor Naoya Takizawa. The Tuba Euphonium Quartet, under the direction of Dr. Kenyon Wilson, will be opening the concert. Featured in the concert will be Kobiki-Uta one of Japan's most popular folk songs and drinking songs about the day in a life of a Japanese Lumber Jack. Also will be aU.S. Premier of Three Spectacles in Navy Blue commissioned by the Japanese Navy and never before performed outside of Japan. Mr. Takizawa is a close friend of the Composer and perusaded him to allow us the performance rights. We look forward to seeing you and hope that you invite students as well.
