Colleagues,

I am pleased to invite you to the Chemistry department for a seminar this
Friday, Sept. 27th. The speaker is Dr. Ed Hilinski of Florida State
University and the title of his talk is

"Time-Resolved Laser Spectroscopy. Relating Chemistry in a Flash to
Chemistry in a Flask"

This research uses state of the art lasers to probe very short lived
intermediates during a chemical reaction. "Intermediates" are species that
are not exactly reactants and not exactly products, but somewhere in
between. Understanding their nature is fundamental to knowing how and why
chemical reactions actually take place.

Please join us at 12:00 in Grote 420 to hear about Dr. Hilinski's latest
research.

Enjoy!
Steve
