A message to faculty

As I will be unable to attend the faculty meeting on Thursday, I would
like you to know where I will be. For the past 3 years, I have requested
membership for UTC in the Tennessee Space Grant Consortium (TSGC). Though
a few of the university's programs have received financial support through
the TSGC, the university has not been admitted as a member institution.
This has been due to decreased funding to the TSGC from the national
office. I have attended each meeting as a guest, and have been asked to
present a report of related campus activities at each of these meetings.

In early December, a request was made by the TSGC for up to six
individuals to attend the Southeast Regional Space Grant Consortium
meeting in Huntsville. I made a commitment to be one of the Tennessee
representatives at this meeting which is Wednesday evening through Friday
afternoon. It is my hope, that in the near future, after remaining active
and visible within the TSGC, it will be given increased funding that will
allow the university to be a member institution and to receive yearly
support for faculty and student projects.
