OVER 100 UTC STUDENT-ATHLETES ON FALL ACADEMIC HONOR ROLLS
Over 100 University of Tennessee at Chattanooga student-athletes earned
placement on the school's Athletics Director's Honor Roll for the Fall
2006 semester, and 78 were named to the school's Dean's List, the
Athletics Department announced Tuesday.
The total of 106 student-athletes on the two lists represents over
one-third of UTC's student-athlete population.
Included on the Dean's List were 14 with perfect 4.0 grade point
averages, including the 2006 Southern Conference Women's Cross Country
Runner of the Year, Lanni Marchant.
"We are extremely proud that so many of our student-athletes are
succeeding in the classroom," UTC Athletics Director Rick Hart said.
"This reflects our commitment to excellence on and off the field and
shows that we are making progress in our mission to help mold young
people for life after UTC."
Student-athletes must have a 3.0 grade point average to be named to the
Athletics Director's Honor Roll and a 3.2 GPA to receive Dean's List
honors.
The softball team posted the most players to the academic lists with 14,
followed by wrestling and football with 12 each.
Members of both honor rolls will be recognized Wednesday night in a
pregame ceremony at the men's basketball game against Georgia Southern.
UTC faculty and staff are invited to attend the game free of charge and
will be admitted at Gate One at The McKenzie Arena upon showing a valid
UTC ID card.
The ceremony will begin at 6:50 p.m. Tipoff for Wednesday's basketball
game will be around 7 p.m.
