As a postscript to Barbara Kennedy's announcement of the Eudora Welty
photographs display now being exhibited at the Lupton Library, you may
also want to know that a large birthday card for Eudora Welty is now in
place with the exhibit for members of the UTC community to sign. (She
turns ninety during the conference this year.) The card will be
Fed-Exed on Saturday so there is limited time for you drop by and sign
the card. Please mention this to your students, too.

In reviewing some of Computing Services web pages for help with some
e-mail problems, I found that the electronic mail program "Eudora" was
in fact named for Eudora Welty. Her short story "Why I live at the post
office" made such an impression on the creators of the program that they
named it for her. Many thanks to Rodger Ling for directing me to the
official source and citation for this information.
