To all Advisors:
I will be teaching a course on BEGINNING IMPROVISATION for all
students as a 1 hour elective. There will be no outside work/no
homework in this class. The student's grade will be based on
attendance and participation only. The course no. is THSP 199r 002 -
MWF - 1:00-1:50 p.m., Grote 119.
For students who are looking for something creative and/or physical
to balance out a full academic load, this might be just the thing.
We use Theatre Sports rules; if they've ever watched the TV show,
"Whose Line Is It Anyway?", they play some of the same games we'll
play.
Although the class has a definite "fun" element and that's why some
students have taken it in the past, some of the byproducts of
learning Improv include: being able to think quickly on your feet,
feeling comfortable in front of people, learning how to communicate
more effectively with your voice and body, etc. Should students be
interested but maybe a little afraid, please encourage them to
contact me and I will explain in more detail how I run the course.
Thanks for your help.
