We just provided legal help for a UTC student suffering from sever physical
domestic abuse. We would not have been able to help her if it had not been for
the caring and timely intervention of a UTC staff member who saw there was a
problem. When it comes to domestic abuse it pays not to mind your own
business. Because this UTC staff member directed this young lady to us, we
were able to get her the legal protection she needed and got her in contact
with other free social service agencies to help her in other ways. It is scary
to think how her story would have turned without this intervention.

I have said this before, but once again, Legal Services is located next to the
campus at 414 McCallie. All services are free and confidential. Services are
provided by federal (55%), state, and city grants. It is here and it is free.

Most services are limited to those with very low income, but not all. Our
domestic abuse legal services have no income limitations. We also have
services for the elderly and those with fair housing problems without income
limitations. We provid a full range of civil legal services for the low income
folks such a landlord/tenant problems, government benefits, consumer problems,
and more. Many students would also qualify for our low income services. Our
