CHISMARK TABBED SOCON PLAYER OF THE WEEK; RETAINS NCAA RANKING

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Chattanooga senior Megan Chismark was tabbed Southern
Conference women's soccer Player of the Week the league office announced
Tuesday. For the fourth straight week, Chismark has held onto the top spot
in the NCAA National Rankings for assists per game averaging 1.29 and the
Lady Mocs remain second in the nation in scoring offense averaging 3.86
points per game.


Chismark led the Lady Mocs to two conference wins last week. She recorded
the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over Western Carolina on September 22 to
open the week and the first goal in a 3-2 win over College of Charleston on
September 26, giving the Lady Mocs their best SoCon start in school history
with a 2-0 record.

The Memphis, Tenn., senior leads the Southern Conference with nine assists
through seven games and has three goals. With 15 points she is now ranked
26th in the nation with 2.14 points per game. Junior Diana Jallo climbed to
third in the nation in goals per game averaging 1.14 and is ranked eighth
in scoring at 2.71 points per game.

Joining Jallo and Chismark on the charts is sophomore Maya Peel who netted
one goal and three assists in two SoCon games last week. Averaging .86
assists per game, she is jumped into the rankings at seventh.

The Lady Mocs, off to their best start in school history at 6-1-0 and best
league start at 2-0-0, climbed to 11th in the won-lost-tied category
winning more than 85 percent of the time. Chattanooga climbed three spots
to 72nd in shutout percentage after tallying its third shutout of the
season blanking Western Carolina 3-0 Sept. 22 at home. The Lady Mocs are
52nd with a goals-against average of .845.

This marks the third time in five weeks that a UTC player has been named
SoCon Player of the Week. Diana Jallo was honored in weeks one and three.
Tirza Ridgely was named the SoCon TIAA-CREF Student-Athlete of the Week for
her work on and off the field in week two.

Chattanooga will be on the road this weekend to Davidson, N.C. take on the
Wildcats Friday, Oct. 1 and then on to Charleston Sunday for an afternoon
matchup with The Citadel.
