The need for UTC to convince our legislature in Nashville that we do indeed
deserve cost of living increases came up at the Faculty Meeting yesterday.
Recently am article in Wisconsin about a situation which can only be
considered as worse than ours. It is a long piece, but at the end is a
chilling tale of stem cell research and political pressure from the
legislature. On the other hand, it also points to faculty and
administrative shortcomings as well. President Petersen has hired a
lobbyist for the system in Nashville; at one time we thought that was the
role of THEC.
