Dr. Deborah McAllister of the Teacher Preparation Academy was recently
awarded $1,711 from the Tennessee Space Consortium to modify mathematics
methods courses for pre-service, elementary, middle grades, and secondary
teachers.

Dr. McAllister will use this money to incorporate K'nex building materials
into the methods courses. In so doing, the mathematics concepts contained
within the lessons will be relevant to concepts associated with space. The
K'nex building materials have already been supplied through a UC Foundation
Instructional Excellence grant.

Congratulations to Dr. McAllister for her efforts to improve the quality of
education offered at UTC.
