Dr. Joseph Kizza of Engineering and Computer Science has been granted a
stipend by the National Science Foundation to attend a five day workshop in
teaching computer ethics.
Dr. Kizza was one of 80 applicants selected to fill one of 30 places at the
workshop, which will be held from May 30 to June 3 in Golden, Colorado at
the Colorado School of Mines. Topics to be discussed in this summer's
workshop include professional ethics, privacy, intellectual property, crime
and hacking, women in computing, software quality, Internet censorship, the
digital divide, the history of computer ethics, and other issues of
interest to the participants. Skills to be discussed and practiced include
leading student discussions, building an ethical argument, objective
assessment techniques for grading essays, and using the Internet in
teaching computer ethics.
Congratulations to Dr. Kizza on being selected to attend this professional
development workshop.
