I always find the discussion of religion on raven interesting and I am glad
that many people join in. My two cents worth:

First cent: Even if many of our founding fathers were Deists, etc., they
were so in the context of a primarily Protestant Christian culture. I
believe it is quibbling to say that the U.S. did not start out as a
Christian country.

Second cent: I am just as irritated by those who claim that no one knows
anything about God as by those who claim that they have sole claim to God's
word. While I myself am not enlightened, I think it may be possible that
there may be some who are. I also believe strongly that anyone who is
enlightened is also humble, loving, and charitable.

Third cent*: I believe it is wise to remember that as the circle of our
knowledge and understanding expands, so does the edge of our ignorance.

*Math types can't count.
