At the risk of once again fanning a smoldering online conversation, I would
like to mention that I have added 293 e-mail addresses to my trash bin over
the past few days. Of those, over 200 hundred had the dread virus. Some
20ish more have discussed many views about religion in government and its
associated issues. As I quietly empty the trash bin to save space for other
tasks, I would like to suggest that we reconvene this very important
discussion to another venue.

I personally think Hyde Park in London provides a much less civilized and
yet more interesting way to learn about everyone's views. At any time one
may go there to say or hear pretty much anything.

I propose that someone (not I) organize a campus-wide picnic at a venue big
enough (Cardiac Hill, Chamberlain Field, etc.) for all proponents of any
point of view to be heard. September 11, 2003 might serve as an appropriate
date, since discussions about "my religion vs. your denomination vs. your
agnosticism vs. your jihad (pardon my spelling) vs. what our founding
fathers intended (pardon me, not mine: they were still somewhere in
Germany suffering under some tyrant or other) vs. the Marshall Plan vs. the
terrorists are in Iraq - no, Iran - no, they're those godless Yankees (I
reconsidered a capital G, to be more inclusive)" seem to have been
rekindled near the anniversary of that most awful day.

I would appreciate that if folks want to "call me out," "take me to the
woodshed," "save" me or whatever, they would please do so by replying only
to me. That might save some of everyone else's break time to have a snack,
drink a cup of liquid caffeine or to change the "subjet du jour" on Raven.

If you deleted this before you finished reading it, GOOD FOR YOU. Don't
forget to empty your trash.
