Subject: [UTCSTAFF] Critics of Love and Logic Parenting

HI folks:

Kind of personal question. Trying to find some research or some school of thought that is not infatuated with Fay's approach in PArenting With Love and Logic. It appears as though all the schools are using this as a resource for parents having problems with children. AN interesting aspect of this approach is that if you see your child outside beating the snot out of another child you are not to punish them but ask them if that was the best way to handle the situation. The person who admonishes the child should be the parent of the beaten child. Most of these books I get, especialy the consequence aspects. But some parts just sound like warmed over Dr. Spock. A search on the web has uncovered an entire parenting industry based on these books and I can not find any criticisms. Is any one aware of extent literature turning on the negatives of this approach? It may be well hidden. For instance, most educated music education professors debunked the Mozart affect Myth a long time ago but have never bothered to inform the general public... what purpose would it serve? I am not saying the Fay approach is bad... I just want to find another side to the story... anyone. The industry trains coaches and allows you to give seminars for profit so I was wondering if anyone is a Love and Logic Coach and would like to meet over coffee? I have read the books and have many questions. Emails with Love and Logic coaches yield some very valuable points but also circular reasoning and hazy foundations.

anything you have to offer would help.
