I am not for nor am I against the union ------I am for the staff.... I
think the majority of the staff will rule in one way or the other -
whether it is speaking up and taking part in ways to help us, or walking
away and not wanting to bother with what is going on. But the majority
will rule. In a year from now we will see if and how things have
changed for us.

I think we should all attend the meeting on the 24th to see what is
being said. If staff cannot attend until 5:00 we can come in late.

There is nothing wrong with being informed about what is going on in any
meeting we are invited.

As for those that are said to gripe and complain and trying to make
trouble -------- I think its exciting to see that so many employees
(there are not many staff in this category but there are some) are
content and happy and there are no issues in your life at the
university, I think that is wonderful. But I do know that for the
employees that do have an issue, the best way to solve it is to work on
that problem - we have freedom in this Country (even the freedom to be
unhappy with circumstances and try to change them - is that called
griping? I guess it is). And for those of you that do say some people
gripe and cause trouble - well, you seem to be griping about those that
do want to change and make a stand. But you have your freedoms also.

I say, go to the meeting and listen - we might learn something. Keep an
open mind - do not judge on past issues we have seen or heard - and
think about what is said - take notes and then talk to your ERC Rep. and
make it known what you like/dislike. The ERC Reps are working for you,
the staff. I hope all ERC employees attend so we can discuss what we
have heard. This should be a learning process for all of us. We all
have a mind, no one owns us and we can make our own decisions and let
our Rep. know what we think. Thanks
