Good Morning UTC,
This month (April) Moc Tips will focus on UTC Faculty and Non-Athletic
Department Staff Members Role in Recruiting. Many UTC faculty and staff
members are asked to assist in the recruitment efforts of prospects due to
your academic expertise and enthusiastic support of our athletics program.
Therefore, the Athletics Compliance Office is charged with making you aware
of NCAA recruiting regulations in order to avoid inadvertent institutional
violations.
NCAA Bylaw 13.1.3.1 Time Period for Telephone Calls-General Rule. In
sports other than football and basketball, telephone calls to a prospect
[or the prospect's relatives or legal guardian(s)] may not be made prior to
July 1 following the completion of the prospect's junior year in high
school; thereafter, staff members shall not make such telephone calls more
than once per week.
Faculty and Staff Members may telephone prospects, in sports other than
football, subject to institutional limits (e.g., one telephone call per
week following July 1 of the prospect's junior year in high school). The
institutions coach is responsible for assuring that this limitation is not
exceeded.
As always should there be any questions please contact me.
