Dr. Kay Lindgren of the School of Nursing has been awarded a $25,801 grant
by the Health Resources and Services Administration to support the Master
of Science in Nursing Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship program.

These traineeships will enable MSN/NA students to gain experience necessary
to work with surgeons and physicians in anesthesia administration.  This
experience will be highly beneficial to the students as well as to the
patients and physicians with whom they work, particularly in rural areas
where the nurse anesthetist practices in conjunction with surgeons and
physicians who are not skilled in anesthesia administration.

The training will take place at Erlanger Medical Center, where the NA
students, faculty, and teaching physicians will provide one hundred percent
of the anesthesia care to indigent patients.
