 I was at the Hamilton County School Board
meeting yesterday afternoon and was very disappointed that
The Board did not approve funding most of the  Parent Volunteer Coordinator
positions. At my daughter’s school, Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts,
the PVC is vitally
important in maintaining high standards, building & growing instrumental
relationships, and bridging the needs of the school together with the time
and talents
of the parents & community. Just the parent volunteer hours spent last year
in painting the school (alone)
saved the school system, city, & state well over what the PVC salary & SRO
salary + benefits cost.(Had the
system had to “contract this work out” it would have cost tens of thousands
of dollars!)
All that being said, do any of you fine folks have any suggestion on how I
as a parent with a child at CCA
could help fund the PVC position there? Thank you for allowing me to
“plea online.”  And thank you in advance for any feedback.
