I can only echo Fouad's sentiment. I was so angry I could not compose so eloquent a statement. But that level of hate speech from a colleague makes me sick. Worse yet, it provides the on-going evidence that the Raven should be used for professional interactions among colleagues, not the continuing rantings of people who are discussing issues that are not relevant to the conduct of University business. Find a chat room of like minded individual, but please stop cloggin my box with your claptrap. If our racist Christian friends need a forum for bashing those of us who are not human, I suggest that the state should not be paying for it.

Subject: [UTCSTAFF] Professor Ghevarghese's language
One can possibly forgive although one should never excuse a university
professor who tells a colleague in a moment of anger to "go back to the
slum where you came from.' But then, Professor Ghevarghese makes an even
more outrageous statement (not the first time, I am told) to the effect
that "Americans have a mission to make Mohammedans human beings..." This is
hate speech of the most racist kind. I am personally offended as are many
of my colleagues. We don't and should not tolerate it when it is used
against Blacks, Jews or Christians. Why should we tolerate it when it is
used against Muslims?
One wonders if this is an indication of what might go on in the protected
confines of the classroom where captive students are bombarded with such
intemperate and hateful speech. If so, I am afraid we might have to demand
a thorough investigation. No self-respecting academic institution should
tolerate such abuse.
