The M.L. King Neighborhood Association and UTC's Community Outreach
Partnership Center are pleased to announce their final Arts in the Park
concert for the fall season. Special guest artists are the Chad Fisher
Group, friends of UTC's Jazz Band Director, Shane Porter.

The Chad Fisher Group has turned heads throughout the southeast since its
debut in December of 2002. Fisher, an established freelance trombonist,
began the group as a straight-ahead jazz project but it quickly evolved into
a unique musical experience, combining pure improvisation with original
compositions and arrangements. On any given night, the band may be swinging
through a jazz standard, or rolling through a reggae tune with horn sounds
reminiscent of Ellington and Mingus or a steel guitar conjuring up classic
country. In the same set, they may ride a groove in the spirit of bands like
Medeski, Martin and Wood or Fela Kuti. The only thing one can truly expect
at a Chad Fisher Group show is the unexpected.

The twenty-eight year old Fisher tours with bands like The Temptations, The
Four Tops and The O'Jays. He also performed or recorded with artists like
Ruben Stoddard, Wayne Newton, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, Bob Mintzer, jazz
trumpeter Lew Soloff, saxman Lou Marini, and a long list of others. In
addition, his unending need to jam has found him on stage with the likes of
Wynton Marsalis and personal hero, trombonist Fred Wesley. When he's not
traveling, Chad can be found with local and regional favorite, Downright,
and of course the CFG.

In November of 2004 the CFG released its first album, self-titled the Chad
Fisher Group, to much critical acclaim. The following year will see the
release of the much anticipated second album, Dog Parade.

The concert will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 6:00 p.m. The venue is
Whiteside Park, a park that commemorates the legacy of Bessie Smith's music
on 9th (MLK Blvd.) Street. The park is in the 800 block on MLK Blvd. where
Palmetto dead ends on the boulevard.

Food and refreshments are available at local MLK Blvd. establishments such
as 3D Wings Express, RJ's Market, Memos and Big Geezee's. Bring your own
chairs or blankets for comfortable seating.
