Hi Everyone,

This coming Monday, November 25, the UTC Percussion Ensemble,
directed by Monte Coulter, will present "Beat Hunger 2002" in the
Hayes Concert Hall at 8:00. This annual event, which is regularly
attended by hundreds, has become the traditional start of the
Christmas giving season in Chattanooga, and is a benefit for the
Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

The UTC Percussion Ensemble is recognized in the Southeast as one of
the finest concert percussion organizations of any university within
a day's drive... they will perform pieces by percussion composers
Gillingham, G.H. Green and Lepak, as well as transcriptions by
Mozart. Instruments will range from a 5-octave rosewood marimba to
the more exotic bowed crotales and lion's roar. A special treat this
year is the inclusion of Dr. Lee Harris, UTC music faculty member and
tenor, in a rare cameo appearance! If you have heard of this
outstanding UTC student group, (or have not) then cut through the
hype and see them for yourself.

The suggested minimum donation is 2 non-perishable food items, or a 2
dollar check (state auditors discourage the collecting of cash
donations on a state campus) payable to the Chattanooga Community
Kitchen.

I hope to see you there! I promise to send no more poetry...
