Dear UTC Colleagues:

        It is with great excitement and a true sense of accomplishment that UTC
announce the official kick-off of "Mocs Express". As you may recall, "Mocs
Express" is the name that has been chosen for the new UTC student
information system. The official "go live" kick-off date for "Mocs Express
will be this Thursday July 1, 1999. Phase I of "Mocs Express"includes those
areas which have completed the installation and implementation of the
Banner2000 software and are ready to be functional for the 1999-2000 school
year. These areas include; Bursar's Office/Student Accounts, University
Housing, Student Financial Aid, and the fee collection and student billing
functions of the Adult Services Center.
        Students will receive the following services commencing with the Fall 99
term;

1. One single invoice which shows all charges owed to the university

2. Improved delivery of excess student financial aid/scholarship funds to
students.

3. Ability for students to process all fees and receive excess funds
through U. S. Postal service.

4. On-line access to student billing and financial aid information.

        These successes would not be possible without the many hours of training,
testing, re-training, and re-testing that has taken place with the staff in
each of the areas listed above. While many individuals have been involved
in this effort, I believe that it is appropriate to list the members of the
"Mocs Express" Accounts Receiveable/Financial Aid Implementation team who
played key roles in this project.

        In honor of these folks, as well as the many other staff members behind
the scenes, please join us for a special appreciation reception to be held
on Thursday afternoon, July 1, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. These receptions will be
held in the offices of each of the areas that are scheduled to "go live".
(Bursar's Office, Student Housing, Student Financial Aid, Adult Services
Center). I hope that each of you will be able to visit one or more of these
sites on Thursday afternoon and let these staff know how much we appreicate
their efforts.
