For the latest information on the Southern Writer's Conference, which will
be held at UTC April 15-17, you may want to view the Arts & Education
Council's website at:  http://www.artsedcouncil.org.  The site not only
offers information on the conference, but also provides detailed
information about some of your favorite southern writers.
        Speakers for this year's conference include Academy Award-winning
screenwriter and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Horton Foote; North
Carolina Poet Laureate Fred Chappell; acclaimed novelists Doris Betts, Kaye
Gibbons, Lee Smith, Shelby Foote, Clyde Edgerton,Janice Daugharty and
Randall Kenan; prize-winning poet,Kelly Cherry;and Tennessee State
Historian, Wilma Dykeman.
