Allen Wier will be giving a lecture on fiction writing at the Roland
Hayes in the Fine Arts Center
on Monday evening. I will give the exact time in a later e-mail,
but I thought alerting people on
Raven would be a good idea so that people can make plans. Allen
has published a number
of short stories and novels such as "A Place for Outlaws," "Departing
as Air," and "Things About to
Disappear." "Cloud of Witnesses" and "Skin for Skin" are soon to be
released. Wier holds the
Hodges Chair for Distinguished Teaching at the University of
Tennessee at Knoxville.
I have heard Allen read several times at various writing
workshops conducted by Rick Jackson,
Ken Smith, and Earl Braggs, and he recently appeared at the last
Southern Writers Festival in
Chattanooga. Allen is a fine writer and a great teacher.
