Hey, folks:

Just a reminder about some opportunities coming our way with this
semester's Patten Series, thanks to grants from Allied Arts, Tennessee Arts
Commission, Southern Arts federation and the National Endowmwnent for the
Arts.

On Saturday, September 29 at 8:00 am, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
will be held at Coolidge Park. Not only will Nnenna freelon and T S Monk
make an appearance there to support the fight against breast cancer, but
Milele Roots will provide entertainment as well.

On Monday, Octbober 1, at 11:00 am, Ms. Freelon and Mr. Monk will conduct
an open (and free) jazz workshop for Walker Breland's Survey of Jazz class
in the Hayes at the Fine Arts Center.

On Friday, October 19 at 10:30 am, the National Players will present a
90-minute matinee performance of Much Ado About Nothing. Students pay
$5.00, adults $8.00. Faculty bringing classes receive comp tickets. We hope
many of you will plan to bring or send your students to this event, since
we are offering it during the day and at a special price.

On Monday, November 5, at 10:00 am, Flamenco Vivo will conduct a workshop
in the Hayes with Monica Coulter's Dance Technique I class. Observers are
welcome. Then at 11:00 am, Ms. Santana and Company will perform a school
show. We have over 300 children from Hamilton County schools already signed
up, and we hope to fill the remainder of seats for this special treat.

On Monday, November 12, Nexus, the foremost percussion ensemble, will
conduct a masterclass with Dr. Monte Coulter's percussion ensemble. If
there is enough interest from campus and off, we will also present this
masterclass on the Hayes stage. There is no charge for this event.

Make a note on your calendar and come see why I keep sending out these
notices!!! And if you have not ordered your season's subscription yet, what
is stopping you? It cannot be the ticket prices. Faculty and Staff get
amazing discounts. Call the box office at 755-4269. And ask about 15%
Patten Series dinner discounts at the Back Inn Cafe (plus 10% discount
cards, good all season long with your subscription).
