Dr. Beth Dodd and Ms. Ginny Reese in Continuing Education were
recently awarded $10,910 from the Tennessee Department of Education to
provide professional development training to healthcare teachers in
Hamilton and surrounding counties.

The healthcare professions in Tennessee currently have significant
shortages and the state Department of Education is attempting to get kids
interested in pursuing these career paths by better preparing teachers to
integrate healthcare into the K-12 curriculum. In order to accomplish this
integration, Dr. Dodd and Ms. Reese have included Math, Science, and Reading
teachers in their development training, and they will help these teachers
bring elements of healthcare into their curricula.

Dr. Dodd and Ms. Reese will offer regional teachers a series of workshops,
conferences, and multiple other professional development events to prepare
them to foster the region's health professions workforce of tomorrow.

Congratulations to our colleagues in Continuing Education! Their initiative
will enhance the educational experience of regional students and increase
our region's capacity to achieve a diverse, highly skilled health
professions workforce.
