Kim Renz, Director of the Fine Arts Center, received $1,000 as an addition
to his original $3,500 award from the Southern Arts Federation.  The funds
cover part of the artists' fees for Daniel Heifetz with The Classical Band.

Mr. Renz was able to bring Daniel Heifetz to Chattanooga for a series of
performances.  The Classical Band is a chamber string ensemble that
performs along with Daniel Heifetz.  They perform music that caters both to
people with refined musical tastes and those with little exposure to
classical music.  During their time here, the group held performances, open
rehearsals, master classes and lecture demonstrations.  Some UTC students
were able to play alongside Daniel Heifetz, gaining invaluable knowledge
and experience, and all those who were able to see the musicians play were
enriched by the high quality of the performance.
