agreed. not only polite but moral, too. but the problem is, how do you attribute a forwarded msg that has no attribution?
my wife forwarded it to me sans attribution. knowing that she didn't write it, and that it would be incorrect for me to associate her name alone with it (besides wanting to protect her anonymity), i figured if folks really wanted an attribution, it could be found on their time.

but here, for the exercise i'll try: searched google : http://www.google.com/search?q=%2Bsurvivor+%2Bclassroom+%2Bbusinessmen

top hits:
http://www.wilk4.com/humor/humorm225.htm - hmmmm, no attribution.
http://list.waikato.ac.nz/archives/leaders-net/2001/12/msg00008.html - no attribution.
http://teachers.net/mentors/upper_elementary/topic6330/12.20.01.16.11.28.html - found a "Posted by Mr. Griff on 12/20/01 " one easily noticeable difference: Griff writes "three with A.D.D., " whereas the text below changed? it to "3 with ADHD".
checking the thread for more, i find:

Re: with your OK Mr Griff
Posted by Mr Griff on 12/31/01

It's cool with me. Someone e-mailed it to me and it was not
sourced or cited. When I get back to school I will e-mail
the "reasons Why this show will not work" response I made up.
       Happy new year

obviously Mr Griff is not the author. so, back to google ...

... i've now passed the first 50 listings, none with attributions.
this was fun while it lasted. am not interested in looking any further.

someday somebody will attribute it to actor Richard Dreyfuss (Mr. Holland's Opus, Education of Max Bickford) or to '7 of 9' now on "Boston Public" or to a Harvard MBA doing community service in schools in exchange for bad behavior on Wall Street, then the Urban Legend folks will pick it up, trace it down to the real author and debunk the myth, and -then- we'll be able to find out who -really- wrote it. maybe.

<sigh> somebody should have taught that first plagiarizer to cite.
