Thanks to the work of Dr. William Lee of the UTC Music Department, a group
of UTC students will play before thousands of people at one of the world's
most famous amusement parks. The Disney Corporation is providing support
valued at $780 to the UTC Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble. The Ensemble is made up
of five UTC music majors -- Shawn Clark, Shawn Smith, Ben Morrow, Eric
Ellis and Stephanie Haun -- and is directed by Dr. Lee. Dr. Lee submitted
a tape of the Ensemble to the Disney Corporation, and the group was invited
to perform at the American Pavilion at Disney's Epcot Center during spring
break.
UTC's Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble plays publicly several times a year at venues
such as area schools and malls. The trip to Orlando will be a good
opportunity for the group to gain experience in performing before a large
crowd.
Congratulations to Dr. Lee for gaining support to provide UTC students with
the opportunity to showcase their talents at the world's largest employer
of live-performing musicians.
