Another month into 2006, and more fun/useful websites! Not as many as
normal, perhaps...but I'll keep them coming as I find them.

As always, if anyone has any suggestions for sites that might be of
interest to the UTC community, feel free to email them my way. I'll take
a look, and see if they meet the strict criteria for making it on my
list. :-)

Here's a few (more) websites that might be of interest to members of the
UTC community, courtesy of the Lupton Library Reference Department (and
the resident Internet junkie, Reference/Instruction Librarian Jason
Griffey). In addition, due to a couple of requests, I've set up a
webpage that archives these lists on a monthly basis. The archives can
be found at:

And so: on to the picks!

Flickr
http://www.flickr.com

Occasionally I'll look at the sites I use everyday and realize that
maybe everyone hasn't seen them yet. This is such a case...Flickr is by
far the best photo organization site on the web. With a free account,
you can upload pictures and share them with anyone, order prints, and
other things you might expect from a photo site. The brilliance of
Flickr is in the social aspects, and the sheer fun of discovery. Take a
look around the most interesting photos, as well as the Creative Commons
licensed photos for use in your own presentations. I can't recommend
Flickr enough.

I want a freeware utility that...

Just what the title says...if you want a free piece of software to do
something, you can probably find it here. From free Antiviral products
to graphic manipulation to video editing. It's all here, and free!

World War II Poster Collection
http://www.library.northwestern.edu/govinfo/collections/wwii-posters/

The Government and Geographic Information and Data Services Department
at Northwestern University Library has a comprehensive collection of
over 300 posters issued by U.S. Federal agencies from the onset of war
through 1945.

Thanks again, and have a great summer!

Jason
