David Walters Redux
As many of you know, our colleague, David Walters, has received a successful liver transplant. It was a close but David is now in the slow process of recovering from an illness that almost took his life. He also faces some financial challenges, and, as they did before his surgery, many of David's musical friends are putting on a benefit to raise money for the David Walters Fund, which is helping to meet some of David's expenses not covered by his medical insurance. Please come out and add your help to that of others--and say hello to David too, who will be in attendance!
THURSDAY, JULY 19TH, AT RHYTHM & BREWS. 7 P.M.
The first half of the show will be the Kathy Tugman Quintet, with the singer and her group performing jazz standards in fresh, exciting arrangements.
The second half, which will begin as the first ends, will feature Kathy and a folk/pop band in a rousing set of tunes written by the likes of Richard Thompson, Gillian Welch and the Indigo Girls. The band features Josh and Rebecca Edwards, Justin Karpinos, Jo Whitaker, Gordy Nichol and other fine players.
COVER CHARGE IS TEN DOLLARS. THE VENUE WILL BE NON-SMOKING.
It's hard to imagine a more delightful way to help out a colleague than settling down for an evening of good music, with food and drink provided by Rhythm & Brews, which, by the way, is waiving the normal rental fee for the hall. All of the door receipts will go to the David Walters Fund. Even if you can't make the show (and we hope you can), consider making a contribution to the David Walters Fund (contact Kathy and David Tugman at [log in to unmask]).
THANKS!!!
