Contingency Plans for the Processing of the Biweekly Payroll
for the period ending 6/30/02

Dear UTC Colleagues,

I want to assure everyone that although no decisions have been made with
the Tennessee budget, bi-weekly employees will be paid correctly and on
time. To assure this outcome, the schedule for entering bi-weekly time
for the period ending June 30, 2002 will be accelerated. Please note:

o All hours to be paid through Sunday, June 30, 2002 should be reported to
departmental timekeepers by 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28th. This may
require a projection of time for the balance of the pay period. Adjustments
to the reported time for this period can be made as a retroactive
correction on the next biweekly payroll.
o Timekeepers should take steps to insure that all time for the pay period
has been collected by the above deadline.
o Timekeepers should record the time reported for the period in the IRIS
CATS time entry system by 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2002.
o Individuals assigned the responsibility of approving hours for biweekly
employees must complete the approval process by the end of day Sunday, June
30, 2002.

I do not expect a disruption of activities and services. Should this
unlikely event occur, all checks will be mailed to the bi-weekly employee's
home address.

If you have any questions about processing biweekly payroll, please call
the Bursar's Office at *4781.
