Dr. Greg Grant recently received a $30,000 grant from the American Chemical
Society to perform basic research in the chemical sciences. This is the
third time Dr. Grant has been honored with an award from this organization.

Dr. Grant's current project involves the preparation of new materials that
contain platinum and other similar precious metals. An important component
of the project is student involvement, and the materials will be
synthesized and characterized by UTC undergraduate chemistry majors.
Potential applications of the project include the development of new
materials that may function as catalysts in chemical reactions and the
development of new materials that may function as precious metal recovery
agents.
>
Please join the Office of Grants and Research in congratulating Dr. Grant
on his continued success and in thanking him for making this research
opportunity available to UTC students.
