In honor of Worldwide Fair Trade Day
Faith / Works Global Gallery
invites you to a community networking opportunity:
An Open Space* Discussion
"OUR MONEY, OUR LIVES, OUR WORLD":
How can we build more just and livable lives and communities and a more
just and livable world?
Time: 1 to 6 PM Saturday, May 8, 2004 Place:
Faith / Works Global Gallery
610 Chattanooga Valley Road, Flintstone, GA
(10 minutes from downtown Chattanooga)
Together we will:
                                * Discuss issues of heartfelt concern
                                * Share ideas, knowledge, and experience

                                * Develop plans for collaborative action

Please register online at faithworksgallery.com Participants should be
prepared to:

                * Bring enough food for yourself and one other person
for a picnic
                * Bring a chair for yourself and one other person
                * Wear casual clothes and shoes as meetings will be held
outdoors
                * Bring ideas, passions, interests of concern, to share
with other participants

At 6 PM we will adjourn discussions, build a fire and have a short
celebration.

*Open space is a way to facilitate participation-initiated and
participant-directed workshops so that everyone who comes to the meeting
will have opportunity to fully address the issues on their hearts to
whatever degree they desire in a fun, relaxed and productive manner.

How do we address unjust systems while caught up in our day to day
battle to keep up? How do we simplify life, reduce stress and focus on
the most elemental things in life? Can individuals, small groups of
people or congregations make a difference in a world that seems so wild
and out of control? How can we build stronger relationships within
communities, across racial, social, class or national borders? Can we
support a more just world through altering consumer habits? What can be
done together by people of good conscience to address looming issues in
our communities and world... issues like police brutality, oppressive
indebtedness among our youth, racial inequalities, unjust international
trade relationships, ethnic hatred, international and domestic violence?

Any of these questions might be among those raised as workshop topics at
the first "Open Space" discussion being held at Faith / Works Global
Gallery on May 8 in honor of Worldwide Fair Trade Day. Open Space is a
way to facilitate participation-initiated and participant-directed
workshops so that everyone who comes to the meeting will have
opportunity to fully address the issues on their hearts to whatever
degree they desire in a fun, relaxed and productive manner.
Participants will be assisted to self-organize into workshops throughout
the afternoon, and written reports from each workshop will be made
available afterward for further networking opportunities.

Everyone is invited to attend free of charge, but we are asking would be
participants to preregister online at faithworksgallery.com Your issue
or concern is guaranteed to be fully addressed and recorded if you come.
Open Space is a powerful organizing tool, and must be experienced in
order to be fully appreciated.
