Chattanooga Sweeps Softball Weekly Awards
(Next home game for the Lady Mocs is Wednesday, April 7 at 6pm versus the
Tennessee Lady Vols.)
SOUTHERN CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK
Week 5 (March 22-28 Games)
KERI MEIGS, Chattanooga, Senior, Outfielder
Keri Meigs (Bremerton, Wash.) managed at least one hit in all but one game
this week and recorded three multiple-hit games to lead Chattanooga to a 5-1
week.
She crushed her first homerun of the season, a 2-run homer, which put the Lady
Mocs ahead 2-1 in the final game of the GSU series. She also knocked in the
game-winner with two outs in the bottom of the seventh vs. Georgia.
Meigs owns a team-best 18 RBI, and a .301 batting average this season. She was
1-for-1 in stolen bases and has connected for at least one hit in 10 of the
last 13 games.
SOUTHERN CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PITCHER-OF-THE-WEEK
Week 5 (March 22-28 Games)
TALYA TRUDELL, Chattanooga, Sophomore, Right-hander
Talya Trudell (Chino Hills, Calif.) threw her first complete no-hitter game
this week. She was 6-for-18 (.333) at the plate, and hit a perfect 3-for-3
with a double and a triple against the Georgia Bulldogs in a 5-4 come-from-
behind victory.
The sophomore is batting .227 with 10 hits in 44 at bats. Her season ERA
dropped to 0.99 this week, and she is 10-3 on the mound with four shutouts (2
this week). She has also recorded 103 strikeouts, topping last year’s total of
74.
