Sequatchie Valley Institute Presents: Tiptoeing Through the Tulips (Tulip
poplars, that is)! A Sustainable Forestry Workshop

Celebrate Autumnšs brilliance and learn about sustainable use of
our beautiful Sequatchie Valley forest land on Saturday, October 19. The
emphasis of the workshop is on economically feasible and ecologically sound
woodland management. There will be demonstrations on the Art of Directional
Tree Felling, use of portable saw-mills for custom wood production and
utilization of beetle-killed pines, hand-hewing logs for beams, and use of a
winch for log removal. In the evening, participants are invited to a
hayride, dinner, and blue-grass music under the stars. COST is $20-$40,
depending on what participants can afford (includes lunch). Sequatchie
Valley Institute is located midway between Dunlap and Whitwell, just off Rt.
28. CONTACT Ashley or Allison: 423-949-5922; [log in to unmask] or
